One of the early pioneers of peptide-based anti-ageing formulations, Janson Beckett  has launched of an exfoliant called DermaPlex, which incorporates the peptide Matrixyl (Palmitoyl Pentapeptide).
 
The use of peptides in anti-aging treatments is compared to Botox because they work by targeting the muscle movements that contribute to wrinkles and fine lines. 

Janson Beckett’s new addition DermaPlex EP is applied to facial skin and allowed to partially absorb for approximately 60 seconds.

A recent patent filing, by researchers at the University of Massachusetts in the USA, could see some changes in cosmetics over the medium term.
 
The researchers have been working on the use of nanoemulsions (ultra-fine) in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries, aimed at helping the body to absorb treatments more easily.
 
An unexpected outcome of this research was, these nanoemulsions are sterile and bacteria free, which will considerably lengthen the shelf life of these products.
 
Nanoemulsions have previously been made by grinding the mixtures to make the particles smaller. The new research uses high pressure and it is believed the turbulence created by this pressure is what kills the bacteria, making these nanoemulsions sterile..
